How to Join First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, SC
Membership within the Presbyterian Church involves an affirmation of
Christian faith and a commitment to participate within the life of the
congregation.
Formally, the following questions are asked of persons desiring to join
the congregation in order to publically affirm faith and the desire to
share in the church’s worship and ministry:
Trusting in the gracious mercy of God, do you turn from the ways of
sin and renounce evil and its power in the world?
Response: I do
Who is your Lord and Savior?
Response:
Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.
Will you be Christ’s faithful disciple, obeying his Word and showing
his love?
Response: I will with God’s
help.
Will you be a faithful member of this congregation, share in its
worship and ministry through your prayers and gifts, your study and
service, and so fulfill your calling to be a disciple of Jesus
Christ?
Response: I will with God’s help.
The Session (church officers) meet with persons interested in joining
before the 11:00 am Sunday worship service. Orientation classes are
offered throughout the year for new or prospective members and can be
scheduled with the pastor or the church staff.
