Scouting Programs


First Presbyterian has a long history of supporting Scouting Programs.  Boy Scout Troop 215 has been sponsored by First Church since 1928 and has produced over 100 Eagle Scouts.

  

First Presbyterian Church is also the only sponsor in the entire state of South Carolina to support a Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop and Venture Crew.

First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, SC sponsors Cub Scout Pack 41 of the Blue Ridge Council – District Six and Twenty.  The Cub Scout Pack offers the following Programs for the age groups listed below. 

Cub Scouts: Tiger Cubs: Designed for boys in the 1st gradeTiger Cub Rank

A program with the motto “Search, Discover, & Share.” The boys participate with an adult in the program designed to strengthen family bonds, provide an introduction to Cub Scouting, and to make Scouting available to more boys.  Meetings are held in the Jack Seel Boy Scout Hut across the street from First Presbyterian Church or in the Family Life Center.  Please check out the Packs website for times and dates of all meetings.

  

  Cub Scouts: Wolf - 2nd Grade, Bear - 3rd Grade & Webelos Scouts: 4th & 5th Grade

A family centered program, which capitalizes on a boys natural interest and creates a stronger bond between the boy and his family through joint participation in activities. Meetings are held in the Jack Seel Boy Scout Hut across the street from First Presbyterian Church or in the Family Life Center.  Please check out the Packs website for times and dates of all meetings.

 

      All of the Pack 41 Cub Scouts participate in the following annual events:  Pine Wood Derby Race (both as a Pack and with the District), Cub Mobile (Soap Box Derby), District Campouts - Fall & Spring, Pack 41 Campouts, City of Anderson Christmas Parade and Scout Sunday. There are many other monthly activities planned both for individual Dens as well as the entire Cub Pack.

 

      Cub Scout Pack Meetings, where all Cubs (Tiger, Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos) gather in the Church Kirk.  These meetings are for both the boys and adults to allow for recognition that each boy has earned as well as to let everyone know about upcoming Cub Scout events.  

 

Cubmaster Ron Cromer leads Cub Scout Pack 41.  If you are a boy who is interested in Cub Scouts or if you are an adult, male or female who wants to help, then you are welcome to call Ron at 864-225-6351. You can also e-mail the Pack at Pack3041@gmail.com.  All are welcome at our meetings however, please call first since meetings are subject to change based upon activities that the Cub Pack may be involved with at a given time.

Boy Scout Troop 215

A Scouting Tradition Since 1928!

 The Boy Scouts of America Oath - Troop 215 - Anderson SC  

First Presbyterian Church sponsors Boy Scout Troop 215 of the Blue Ridge Council – District Six and Twenty. This group of young men from 11 years old / Sixth grade to 18 years / Twelfth grade meets in the Jack Seel Boy Scout Hut across the street from church every Tuesday evening from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The program is designed to be an individualized program of goal setting and achievement. Boy Scouts experience democracy in action, community service projects, and peer leadership. They learn the basics of first aid, citizenship, physical fitness, and outdoor skills, and then can choose from over 100 career and hobby-related topics. This active troop does monthly service projects, enjoys camping experiences and a variety of fun trips. Scoutmaster Doug Larson leads them.

Venture Crew 215

Venture Crew 215 at First Presbyterian Church, Anderson SC

Thanks to the help of First Presbyterian Church.  Venture Crew 215 was granted its charter in December 2005.  Venture Crew 215 held its first meeting on Tuesday, January 12, 2006 at the Family Life Center .   The crew typically meets on the First Tuesday of each month 7:00 pm at the FPC Scouting Complex in the Scout Huts.  Venturing is part of the Boy Scouts of America. It is for Boys and Girls between the ages of 14 to 21 years old. If you like High Adventure and want to test your limits meet new friends plus make a different through leadership and service.
